A much needed break

The YouTube thing didn’t make the impact I thought it would, and that’s okay. Now I know I can take my time with those, and focus more on making games.

Honestly I think the videos are just okay content wise, but I really like the quality of the production.

Anyways, I haven’t really been working on any solid projects this past summer. I just got kind of burnt out and needed to let myself not feel guilty for not working on a game in every spare moment. It really was started to feel like I had two full-time jobs. One that wasn’t fulfilling, but paid the bills and the other that didn’t pay and also wasn’t feeling as fulfilling as it used to be.

I played a lot games on PC and Switch that I’ve had in my library but never gave much time to. The PC games I really got into were M.A.S.S. Builder and Scourge Bringer

And on the Switch I started to get back into Breath Of The Wild and Jet-Lancer, until Ninjala got released.

Ninjala is basically a free-2-play Splatoon.

I started reading more about game development, to learn more about the psychology of games and how to manage a project so that I don’t lose momentum on long development cycles. I would recommend reading, Indie Games: From Dreams to Delivery, before diving into a new project.

Now after taking some time off, I’m back to game development. Using I what I’ve learned over the years and more recently this summer, I have mapped out a general plan.

It started with “idea” on one side and “Product for sale” on the other side, then I mapped out the journey in the middle.

I am trying to stick with this plan as I begin a new small project and one of the first steps is to become active on social media again. As of today I’ve already started making post about a mobile game template I have started. So far, I’m still in the paper prototype phase.
